Planner's Comments A few points:
Thank you to the Park Rangers for their friendly assistance and for the cup of tea after I had set out the controls in the morning. Thanks also to the invaluable help from Pauline & David Olivant, Dave Cooke, Catherine Hughes, Richard Beadle and others for their assistance on the day!
Planning is a pleasure. Planning the first event in a newly, and very well, mapped area is a special treat. I think that anyone who considers that new areas are a 'bit noddy' needs to come here and see just how technical, varied and interesting a small area can be.
To those who thought the tripod (no. 69) was in the wrong place - sorry but I checked when collecting it and it was, in my opinion, about spot on. Tricky control that one.
My apologies for the length of the more technical courses - but at least I was able to cut the Blue/technical course in half for those who wanted a shorter challenge. A good job considering the temperature and humidity.
Thank you to the competitors for running and for the feedback - good to know when other people like the courses rather than just me!
Finally, a comment from a junior competitor on the Orange course to my suggestion that I had perhaps made the veg boundary control (no. 61) too difficult - "well it sorts out those who persevere from those who don't." Fair enough.
